Jamaica is also affected by the corona pandemic, albeit to a gratifyingly low level in terms of illnesses and deaths.
Nevertheless, the pandemic in Jamaica has not remained without its effects on public life. Schools and social institutions are in great demand because of the necessary hygiene concepts. The DJG wants to make a contribution here to reduce the need.
An appeal for donations from the association members and former volunteer workers in Jamaica raised almost 1,500 Euros. The DJG will provide up to 3,300 euros from its own resources, so that up to 4,800 Euros can be transferred to Jamaica. These funds will go to an SOS Children's Village in Kingston and two schools in the country. In passing on the funds, the DJG is supported by its sister society in Kingston - the Jamaican-German Society - as well as its local member, Werner Troeder, in a tried and tested manner.
With the donated funds the washrooms in the schools will be modernized and face masks and shields will be purchased.
The DJG thanks all donors who made this relief effort possible.
